Gimme Five!! (Cakes that is)

That's what the lady ordered...five cakes for five members of her family who all shared the same birthday week! It was a fun concept, but very time consuming. They were thrilled with the finished products though, which makes a busy day well worthwhile!

BOO!! Hallowe'en Cake

I love Hallowe'en, and I loved creating this spooky treat for my friends Halloween party. If you ever wonder what scares a ghost, it's the little green guy behind him. ;)

Transformer Cake and cupcakes

I have a new respect for the people who created Transformers...they are not simple creatures. I spent a lot of time precision cutting shapes, and staring at endless pictures of these boy toys.

1972 Chevelle Malibu

Ohhh, the dreaded car cake! These are hard enough to make, but this baby was a doozy!! Just as I was finishing up final touches on it, I noticed the back end of the car had cracked and fell off....I underestimated the weight of the fondant, and with the car being raised it lacked support. My car crashed, and took a one way trip to the trash can. I have patched up cakes before, but I am not a magician. The cake was not salvagable. I was devestated! Thankfully the party I was making it for wasn't until the next day, so I stayed up most of the night making a whole new cake. The second cake actually turned out better, and I even recieved a standing ovation when I delivered it! I like car cakes with happy endings.

Spongebob Cake

Any one who lives in a pineapple under the sea is pretty cool in my book! This was a fun cake to make, but unfortunately the lady who ordered it, never picked it up. Maybe a good story for a Spongebob episode.....I ended up taking it over to a friend, where it would be appreciated (she has four kids).

Racing Car Cupcakes

My camera did not want to cooperate with these little speedy guys, so I apologize for the poor picture. The mom requested Hot Wheels cupcakes, and this is what I came up with.

Barbie Cake

To be honest, I always thought Barbie Cakes were kind of cheesy. Then, I was asked to make one! It was surprisingly enjoyable to make. I may just be crazy and do it again one day! The cake was carrot with cream cheese frosting. Mmmmm, cheesy.

Autumn Cake

I made this cake as the centerpiece of the dessert table for a church women's conference dinner of over 200 ladies. I loved the color combination, my only regret is that I had to rush it - What? You see flaws??! (No worries, I see them too - believe me!) ;)

Max and Ruby Cake

What is cuter than a rabbit? An edible one! I was nervous to make Max solely out of fondant, but I think he turned out pretty cute. I'd eat him. I am glad Ruby wasn't requested, because frankly, I find her a little annoying. P.S. Where ARE Max and Ruby's parents??

Cowboy Cake

This cake was made for a charity auction for the Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Facility, which helps disabled people gain strength and mobility through riding horses. The cowboy theme was really surprisingly fun given that I don't know much about cowboys or horses for that matter! It was a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and caramel filling. I hope it made them some cash!! ;)

Super Mario Cake

I have to say, when I was a teenager I spent HOURS playing Super Mario, so when I was asked to do this cake, I was EXCITED! It was a very fun cake to design, and make. The mom of the little boy bought the figurines, and wanted me to incorporate them on to the cake. I wanted it to look like the video game itself. I had the theme song going through my head the entire time...
The cake was chocolate with chocolate buttercream on the bottom layer, and white cake with strawberry preserves and lemon buttercreme on the top.

"The cake was phenomenal!! Not only did it look amazing, the flavors of the cake and icing were incredible!! The details of the first Super Mario video game were brilliantly incorporated into the cake...it was such a beautiful work of art! All of the guests as well as the staff from iT'Z were in awe of your cake! Everyone said they have never seen a cake like that before...one that was decorated fantastically and equally delicious! Your work exceeded my expectations...Thank you soooo much for designing the perfect cake for my son's birthday! We will definitely recommend you to our friends! Thank you again!" - Ashlee W.

Anniversary Cake

My friend's husband wanted to surprise her with one of my cakes for their anniversay, and he gave me complete creative freedom...woohoo, my favorite kind of customer! :) I thought a two birds "sitting in a tree" theme was a cute play on the childhood poem we all remember saying....I made 12 blossoms on the branch to represent each year of their marriage. I didn't want their four children to feel left out, so I made them each their own little bird cupcake as well. They have 2 boys and 2 girls. I really enjoyed making this one, and loved the way it turned out!

"Twilight" birthday cake

I will admit it, I am a BIG Twilight fan....love the book series. Love Edward. I have been wanting to make a Twilight cake for a long time, and was so excited when my oldest daughter decided on a "Twilight" themed birthday party!! I incorporated all the book covers on the cake. Her party was a hit, and it was so cute to see all her friends dressed in black and red while eating their candle lit dinner. The apple and the chess pieces are also made of fondant, and her friends got such a kick out of eating them! The cake itself was red velvet with vanilla buttercreme.

Safari Cupcake Toppers

I had a new request last week.....cupcake toppers minus the cupcakes! I really didn't mind the "no baking" part, in fact, I welcomed it! :) The mom was baking the cupcakes herself, but just wanted animals to top them. They were SO fun to make!! I was totally in my element with this project.

"they were amazing and everyone was talking about them! The kids all wanted to take one home with them! I will have the pics this weekend and will definitely send u some. I would love to know how you made them. I was so pleased with them and am still in awe that fondant can be transformed into such detailed adorable little animals! Thanks again for adding that final touch to make my baby boys 1st birthday special!" - Sarah S.

In the Navy!

A friend of mine asked me to make this for her sister who had just been promoted in the U.S. Navy to Lieutenant Commander. It was my first attempt to mold a "character" out of fondant. It was really fun, and I was pretty relieved that it didn't look awful! I had to research uniforms to make it "genuine", right down to the cap and shoulder boards! The funny part was my friend gave me the freedom of choosing the cake and frosting flavors. I thought chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting sounded yummy, so that's what she got! Turned out my friend HATES peanut butter with a passion, but thankfully her sister liked it, and so did the rest of the family! PHEW!!

Custom Honda Civic Car Cake

Sad story, happy ending. Once upon a time, a man owned a custom Honda Civic...he loved it. One day it was stolen, and stripped for parts. The man never completely got over his loss. Then, one day for his birthday, his sweet wife ordered him a custom cake! "Please make it just like his old car", she asked. So, I did. She sent me an email later that day, saying he couldn't stop smiling, he loved the cake, and it made his day. That's why I LOVE what I do!!! The end.

"thank you so much! My husband loved the cake! He could not stop smiling! I think it made his day!!" Gelsey D.

Rockin' Hot Pink Guitar Cake

A friend was throwing a 30th birthday party for her friend, and wanted the cake to resemble the invitation.....This was the invitation she sent me.

This was the cake.......

It was pretty fun to make I must say.

"I wanted to thank you so much for the beautiful cake you made for Melissa's birthday. It turned out great and best of all it tasted fantastic! I will definitely use your services again and recommend you to others. Thanks again." Cara M.

Wedding Cake numero dos

Wedding cakes are intimidating to me....but thankfully I haven't had any requests for anything crazy yet. Small weddings are GOOD. This one was recreated from a photo the bride to be sent me. It is plain because she planned on putting her own fresh flowers on top.

College football cupcakes

I am so not a big sports person, but gosh darnit I can copy a logo!! This fan wanted 6 University of Kentucky, and 6 Georgia Bulldogs....the tale of this story is that a little 2 year old I know was also a fan, and snuck two cupcakes right before delivery! We were down to ten, but the customer got a discount, and a funny story to go along with them!

"they were wonderful cupcakes. You have me as a continued customer, your work is amazing, and thank you." Zena G.

Retro Birthday Cake

I love the green/blue/brown color combo's in this cake. They make me happy.

Mommy and Me Mini Cake

A very good Mommy ordered this for her and her little boy to share. He had just started Kindergarten....the cutest thing ever to see his face light up when they came to pick it up!
" Callie, The cake was AMAZING!!! I actually ate the rest of it for dinner last night. Not healthy, but definitely the best tasting dinner I've ever had! I'll order another (larger) cake for my work sometime in September. I'm sure I will be the favorite for a while after that :) - Kari B.

Puff the Magic Dragon Cake

This was probably my favorite cake to make so far. I thought the theme was really fun! An older man ordered this for his 65 year old friend's birthday! The gentleman was nicknamed "Puff", so he wanted a Puff themed cake! I figured since "Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea", it should be a sea theme. I think it turned out really fun and cute, right down to the "charred" mini birthday cake nestled in his tail ;) The cake itself was chocolate sponge with pistachio filling. I was nervous about baking sponge cake at our high altitude, but I used a good recipe and it came out great! :) Yay, for good baking days!
